    What is Health Coaching?

Integrative Nutrition Health Coaches help clients make lasting, sustainable changes to achieve their health goals. Health coaches assess a client’s overall health and wellness (i.e. food habits, stress, sleep, environment, and other factors) and empower clients to adopt health-promoting behaviors that fit their lifestyle, offering guidance and raising awareness as clients work toward their goals.

Coaching is not a one-size-fits-all. Clients are bio-individual, meaning each has unique health needs and is motivated differently. What works for one person physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually will not work for another, so a tailored and unique approach designed for each client is used.

As opposed to telling a client what to do, health coaches partner with a client to form a relationship that will lead to lasting lifestyle changes through regular communication, listening to the clients desires and goals, providing guidance and an outside perspective, and accountability. This approach fosters long-term behavior change by helping clients build strong, mindful habits.

Health coaches can also support clients by helping them implement recommended diet and lifestyle changes prescribed by doctors.

    Why choose Health Coaching?

    Hiking

When you envision a healthy person, what do you see? I used to see a “gym rat” with well-defined muscles holding a protein shake, but now I see an elderly person (80+) on minimal to no medication with energy and mobility hiking in a forest or biking near the beach with their family, smiling and enjoying life to the fullest. My practice aims to put you on a path to that 80+ year old.

Over 2000 years ago, Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.” He also said, “All disease begins in the gut,” and, “Walking is man’s best medicine.” How is it that for over 2000 years, humanity has known this, yet in the United States, we’ve strayed so terribly from these principals? Science is now finally catching up with these principals and finding that the vast majority of diseases are preventable or reversable, and most genes that cause disease are controlled by epigenetics (i.e. food, environmentals, etc.).  We’re told to take more medicine, apply a cream, or, “nothing further can be done;” we’re bombarded with advertisements for medications and quick foods devoid of nutrients; we Band-Aid symptoms yet never really heal. All the while, our bodies are screaming for things that truly satisfy and heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
